Zariski multiplicity conjecture
The purpose of this working group is to discuss a famous conjecture of O. Zariski (so-called `Zariski's multiplicity conjecture') about the topological invariance of the multiplicity of a complex hypersurface singularity. More precisely, let f; g : (C^n; 0) -> (C; 0) be reduced germs of holomorphic functions. (We do not assume that f and g have an isolated singularity at 0.) We suppose that f and g are topologically V -equivalent, that is, there is a germ of homeomorphism ': (C^n; 0) -> (C^n; 0) sending the hypersurface (g=0) onto the hypersurface (f=0). The Zariski multiplicity conjecture says that, under these conditions, f and g have the same multiplicity at 0.

Lie systems: theory, generalizations, applications
The theory of Lie systems analyzes a class of systems of first-order ordinary differential equations, the so-called Lie systems, whose general solutions can be described in terms of a generic finite family of particular solutions and a set of constants, by a certain function, the superposition rule. Their interesting geometric features give rise to important tools and have originated new mathematical techniques and notions used for investigating differential equations.
The program of our working group focused on the study of Lie systems, their generalizations, and applications in both, mathematics and physics. In addition, our plan entails the analysis of problems related to symplectic and Poisson geometry, quantum mechanics, and supergeometry.
More specifically, we will work on:
- Lie-Hamilton systems.
- Lie symmetries, Lax pairs and the Painlevé property.
- Quasi-Lie systems and their applications.
- Geometry of differential equations on supermanifolds.
- Dirac-Lie systems.
- Lie systems on k-symplectic manifolds.
- Lie systems on Riemannian manifolds.
- Lie systems on algebroids.

Asymetric Zero sum stochastic games under partial observation
Asymmetric information is a one of open problems in modern stochastic game theory. We have for simplicity two players, which have different information: one has full information while the second one only partial (corrupted by a noise) or delayed. Natural questions concern existence of the value of such zero sum game for various kinds of control. The purpose of the research group is to study such problem from various perspectives organizing in the meantime brainstorm meetings gathering of the main specialists of the stochastic game theory in Poland.

Okounkov bodies and Nagata type conjectures
The focus of the workshop is the theory of linear series on projective varieties. This is a vast and traditional research area in algebraic geometry with many facets, of which the workshop will concentrate on specific two that have recently attracted a lot of attention and witnessed new significant developments. Namely, we plan to discuss the theory of Newton-Okounkov bodies whose systematic study has been recently initiated and has witnessed a rapid development in both theory and applications ever since. In addition, to becoming fundamental to the study of positive line bundles and uniting interesting work coming from projective and complex analytic geometry, this new circle of ideas has found many application outside algebraic geometry, for instance in combinatorics and representation theory.

Data driven application of Bayesian approach and Monte Carlo Markov Chain methods to estimation of HIV prevalence in Europe
The mathematical analysis of systems describing disease spread is of high importance for public health, especially for diseases for which the epidemic is not easily observable and only indirect sources of data exist. The mathematical models can help to understand the evolution of diseases, estimate unknown parameters and predict the course of epidemic. The workshop will concentrate on applying Bayesian approach to use available data relating to HIV epidemic in the UK, Holland, Italy, Spain and Poland to inform models' parameters (evidence synthesis). The core of this method consists in considering the probability distributions in place of coefficients which are not a priori known. With the use of the Bayes theorem and asymptotical methods based on Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithms the posterior distributions are obtained.

In particular, we aim to bring together both Riemannian and algebraic geometers.

Variational methods in geometric function theory and nonlinear elasticity
These lectures are about Sobolev mappings of domains in the Euclidean n-space (also n-manifolds) which satisfy certain nonlinear partial differential equations. They appear naturally in Geometric Function Theory as quasiconformal mappings and in Materials Science as hyperelastic deformations; that is, mappings (predominantly homeomorphisms) which minimize a given energy integral. The central issues are: existence, uniqueness and regularity of the energy-minimal deformations, also the associated phenomena such as occurence of cracks and fractures.

Workshop on Geometry of Lagrangian Grassmannians and nonlinear PDEs
Organizers: Jan Gutt (CFT Warsaw, Poland), Gianni Manno (Polytechnic of Turin, Italy), Giovanni Moreno (IMPAN Warsaw, Poland).
A consistent geometric theory of nonlinear PDEs can obtained by using jet bundles and their natural structures. The so–obtained framework is part of a larger scheme, involving prolongations of contact manifolds, which allows to regard any PDE as a bundle of hypersurfaces in a isotropic Grassmannian manifold. In particular, second–order nonlinear PDEs correspond to hypersurfaces in the Lagrangian Grassmannian.

Interakcja i dynamika - teoria gier w ekonomii i naukach społecznych
Organizers: A. Wiszniewska-Matyszkiel
